I would have to say that the weather men/women got tricked on tropical storm Ernesto. It defiantly tricked everyone here in Florida. All the he really did was dump some rain and make it a damp gray day. Not many people knew what to expect this time last night. The storm was supposed to intensify a little and push more towards the west coast however, once it hit land it died. Now the main part of the storm has passed and is heading northeast we can wait for the next one. Till then we will have to deal with the leftovers of Ernesto till tomorrow.

It seams that the storm has moved to the east over night. It now looks like it could miss SWFL all together however, it is still south of us so we are not out of the woods yet. I have a feeling that the storm will shift again over night. The 2pm advisory just came out and the track didn’t change that much. Look for the 5 and the 11pm advisories for a better sense of where Ernesto will head. The weather here is great, Sunny with some clouds!

Well it’s that time that we have been looking forward to and dreading at the same time. Hurricane Ernesto is on its way but where its going to put a direct hit no one really knows yet. Give it a couple of days and we will know. Today Jen and I went to Wal-Mart in the morning before the rush starts. Our bomb shelter has a decent amount of food but we just need to replenish some items and get some more portable propane tanks for our grill. Being from the north we would prep for snow storms and ice storms, it wasn’t that big of a problem. You would just head over to Wegmans and grab some milk and bread. Well storm preps are much different in Florida. Water and can goods are your friends. If the power goes out in the north you just throw your milk out in the snow and it stays cold. In Florida we have to worry about keeping things cold.

This will be our first hurricane. People keep asking us if we are ready, we think we are but we probably aren’t. We have never experienced this kind of storm and don’t know what to expect. Jen will be working through-out the storm so I will be alone by myself.

Our location is in Fort Myers, FL. I will try to keep everyone updated on the status and photos as long as I have power to do so. Power outages where we live are very common. There may not be a cloud in the sky and the power will go out for a couple of minutes.
