Her Powerbook has been shutting off every so often due to an over heat signal, so we decided to go see what was causing this problem and how much it would cost to fix. From the get go I was impressed with the service. We registered online to meet with a genius and got to the store 10 minutes before our scheduled time. We were greeted and told that your name would appear on the monitor and a genius would call your name when ready. While standing waiting for a genius every single employee asked if we were being helped, at the time it was about 10 employees. Once a genius was available they checked out the Powerbook and found that it really wasn’t that consistent of a problem and told us we should send it in for service where they can run more diagnostics to locate and fix the issue. It’s a flat price ($310.00) to have everything fixed. This is a very good deal since I have a feeling that it may be the motherboard. We’ll have to send it in sometime later on after we back everything up. On the way out Jen decided to buy a iPod Nano, PRODUCT (red). It’s very nice!

Overall I was very impressed with the level of customer service at Apple. All the employees were concerned that we were not being helped and everyone at the genius bar was very knowledgeable, which far exceeded my expectations. A Far different experience from going to Best Buy or CompUSA where all they try to do is con you into buying things you don’t need. I am very confident that when we send in the Powerbook for service that all problems will be fixed. I give Apple 4 out of 4 Apples for Customer Service and Knowledge!

Update: iPhone Early Adopter Tax

I am just wondering how all those people who bought iPhones last month are feeling today? Apple has pulled its marketing wonders again. They are known for releasing a product then months later putting a price drop on it. The iPhone is now $399.00, a $200.00 price drop from when it came out. It also looks like they have discontinued the 4 gig phone too.

Another person that was at the opening also sent me some video. His turned out way better than mine. He probably didn’t record it on a camera!

Well Doug and I just got back from another Apple Store Grand Opening. Two weeks ago we were in Estero, FL for the Coconut Point Opening and today we were in Naples, Fl for the Waterside Shops Opening. The one in Naples has a totally different atmosphere than Coconut Point and I think that the Coconut Point store will do more business in the long run. Why you ask? Well not to many nerds that I know are shopping at this store, this store and this store. That’s just to name a couple of stores around the Apple store and inside Waterside. Once again I have uploaded photos to my flickr site and have also posted this short video of the pre-opening events.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Now all I have to do is keep doing web development on the side to save enough money to get a Macbook Pro. I think we are through for a long while with Apple store grand openings. We now have stores from Tampa South and east over to Miami.

Apple fans are very dedicated. First off I should state for the record that I don’t have any Apple products. Not even an iPod however, I am looking to buy a MacBook Pro. The problem is that I just have a hard time putting up all that money for a computer. Anyways back to the point of this post. Last Saturday Doug and I went to the Apple store grand opening at Coconut Point. While there I took a couple of pictures and when I got home I wrote a post and posted the photos on my flickr site. Since Saturday these 5 or so pictures are in my top viewed photos and I have had like 5 or 6 emails asking if I had anymore. Ok so what’s your point Shaun? Well my point is Apple geeks, nerds, followers, fan boys, whatever you want to call them take I guess you could call it pride in what they use. I mean think about this, if I went to a opening of a new Bose store would there be people just out surfing around looking for Bose store photos or the recent grand opening? I highly doubt it. Actually it’s kind of cool and I would have to give props to Apple’s marketing department. This has to be one of the best in the industry. So my question to you is, “Are you an apple fanboy and why?” Tell me something good that will make my buy Apple?

It’s a site that allows you to write about certain topics that they have listed and if you meet the requirements and the post is available online for 30 days then they give you some money. At first I thought this was a joke and didn’t really believe it. So far i have been paid something like $45.00! It’s legit However, there are some things I don’t like about it. The major problem is that some of the posts require you to post positive comments about the topic. You can see what this will do. People do anything for money! Every so often I check it out and see if there are any good topics. Hopefully I will make enough money so that I can buy a MacBook Pro! Only time will tell.

Is Apple going to ruin it for everyone because of there marketing and legal gimmicks? I think it’s funny that Apple has gone this route. Podcasting has made the iPod a very nice investment and now with the Zune player coming out Apple needed to do something. The common internet users think that you need an iPod to listen to podcasts which you don’t. With the release of the Zune player Microsoft may market it as the next generation podcast listener. Not what apple would like! I think this is why Apple is doing what they are doing. Bad choice by Apple since the internet and podcasting community will have to come up with another name. The word podcast has become a internet recognized name. However, things may have to start from scratch again. So what would you like the new podcast word to be? What about MAUDcast = Mobile Audio Casting.

It seams like every 4 months or so Apple releases another version of there iPod. I mean what is this one going to have in it, another 512mb of disk space making it the only MP3 player on the market to have 1.5 gigs? The biggest problem is that users not like me but maybe you will buy the damn thing. Apple on the other hand is very smart in their marketing techniques. This is a company that will get everyone all hyped up, even the main stream media over a simple little 3.5 index card or email that will says something like join us on such a date, and have a phrase like “10 songs in your pants!” Maybe it’s me, maybe not. If 9/11 wasn’t this week all the news from the blogging community would be about this new announcement (at least 1/2 of it is already). All I can say is congrats to Apple for brain washing people with your marketing ads. It’s working. In fact I may buy a Mac soon too! On the other hand, the releasing of a new iPod every 4-6 months is getting ridicules. Sooner or later people will realize and stop purchasing them. I mean come on I would be pissed if I bought an iPod like 4 months ago and another newer one is coming out already![tags]Apple, iPod, Marketing, Computers, Mac, [/tags]
