Veterans History Project [John McCain]

A quick search this morning for John McCain at the Library of Congress website bought up a page on one of my favorite projects at the Library, the Veterans History Project.  The Veterans History Project consists of interviews  from veterans including biography’s and photos that are posted online so that their story and history can be shared with the world and documented so that it’s not lost over time.  The digital collection is very extensive.  It’s open to anyone and I think is one of the coolest projects at the Library.

Umpires Ernie Quigley, Tom Connelly, Hank O’Day, Bill Dinneen at 1916 World Series

With the World Series only one game away from a potential winner I decided to go search through the Prints and Photographs collection from the Library of Congress for some old World Series photos.  This one shows umpires in the 1916 World Series game which featured the Boston Red Sox and the Brooklyn Robins.  Stats from this series can be found at baseball-almanac.com.
