Walmart, Now Target to Offer Cheap Drugs

PillsUPDATE: View a list of drugs offered under Walmart for $4.00

Wal-Mart in the Tampa Bay area is now offering Generic Prescription drugs for $4.00 for a 30 day supply. This is incredible! Now Target, also in the Tampa Bay area is going to match Wal-Mart’s Deal. This is also good! However, why now? Are Wal-Mart and Target going to be losing money on there generic drugs. Think about this. Up until this week these same generic drugs didn’t cost $4.00 for a 30 day supply. This can only make me understand why people have been buying there meds from other countries. It was cheaper and still is! How much was Wal-Mart really profiting off of there pharmacy since this announcement? I have heard on the news that some people here in Fort Myers, FL will travel the 2 hours to Tampa Bay area to get there medication. Though, I would ask if these generic drugs are coming form the same sources as before. It seams odd that they can offer a 30 day supply at $4.00 when they where charging more just weeks ago. What do you think?

No O in ’08

OprahTo all who have been stomping for Oprah for President in 2008. Please don’t do this. We don’t need this lady in office! Although maybe she will give everyone in the US backpacks, Nike shoes, and a teddy bear. Even she doesn’t want to be listed as a candidate. She actually has her lawyers working on this and there may actually be a lawsuit. We don’t NEED Oprah in 08. Though some people need her book club! Let her stick to here books and not the Governments books!

Recall Them All

batteryLooks like recalls are hitting everyone hard. It all started when Dell decided to recall there batteries, then Apple, now Toshiba and Today I saw that Canon has recalled some of there copiers due to a battery connection that may emit smoke and even catch fire. Are these recalls really that necessary? I am thinking that everyone is up in arms and just wants to be on the safe side even if they don’t have a problem. Hell, it doesn’t leave a bad image on the company recalling the product. They just blame it on the company who made that part. With all these recalls I have a feeling that some market shares and earnings will be on the low end this year. Will recalls hurt consumer confidence in purchasing electronics or is this something that will have to deal with in the future. I know I don’t want to deal with it. I would much rather pay more money for something that just works and not have to worry about it blowing up or sending something back for a new part. I bet more recalls will be on there way for consumer products in the near future. I just hope that nothing affects me. What do you think about all these recalls?

Upgrade Complete

WordpressI have successfully upgraded my installation of WordPress to version 2.0.4. This was very easy. Looks like there are a couple of bug fixes that I was encountering in 2.0 are fixed. WordPress is one of the best if not the best blogging software on the internet. The best part about it is that it is free, there is a lot of support on the internet, and it is an active project. I have noticed in some other open source projects that they are big for a couple of months and actively developing something then everything comes to a halt or bug and feature development is very slow. I can say that WordPress is not like this. Updates and new implementations are being worked on as we speak even though Automattic and WordPress.com is getting more attention. Keep up the good work Matt and Team!

That’s Much Cooler

ColdA cold front has moved through Southwest Florida, and it is feeling good. Now that we have our air conditioner fixed, more on this in a bit, we can enjoy the nice weather set for the weekend. So back to the air conditioner, yesterday we noticed that the it was getting hot in our condo. When I got home from work it was about 95 in here. We called the landlord and she sent someone over today. Low and behold a lizard had gotten fried in the compressor and shorted out the power to the unit or something like that. Everything is now fixed and we are cool again. This all happened just in time for the cool front that has pushed in. Tomorrow and the next couple of days are supposed to be much cooler, about 80 and less humid. I’m ready, bring it on. Today I checked the weather back home and it was like 56 out! Yikes that’s cold, though I kind of miss it.
