Monday is Patriot Day, Did you know?

September 9th, 2006

Old Post OfficePatriot Day is Monday and I was wondering how many people really knew about this day?  Patriot Day was written into law on December 18, 2001 and is a day of remembrance for those killed in the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001.  For me, I didn’t know that this was a set day written into law.  While reading a post on The Black Republican I noticed there was a link to this day.  Patriot day is not to be confused with Patriots’ Day in Massachusetts.  Patriots’ Day is the day the Boston Marathon is run and is a civic holiday.  Some things you may want to remember on Patriot Day Monday, September 11, 2006 are;

  1. All American Flags should be flown at Half-Staff where acceptable.
  2. Individual Homes should display the American Flag.
  3. A Moment of Silence should be observed at 8:46am.

Spread the word, and let people know that don’t.  I am sure that there are a lot of people that remember the day but don’t know that it is a National Day of Remembrance.  More on “What I was doing 5 years Ago” on Monday.
