As Ernesto Approaches

August 27th, 2006

symbolWell it’s that time that we have been looking forward to and dreading at the same time. Hurricane Ernesto is on its way but where its going to put a direct hit no one really knows yet. Give it a couple of days and we will know. Today Jen and I went to Wal-Mart in the morning before the rush starts. Our bomb shelter has a decent amount of food but we just need to replenish some items and get some more portable propane tanks for our grill. Being from the north we would prep for snow storms and ice storms, it wasn’t that big of a problem. You would just head over to Wegmans and grab some milk and bread. Well storm preps are much different in Florida. Water and can goods are your friends. If the power goes out in the north you just throw your milk out in the snow and it stays cold. In Florida we have to worry about keeping things cold.

This will be our first hurricane. People keep asking us if we are ready, we think we are but we probably aren’t. We have never experienced this kind of storm and don’t know what to expect. Jen will be working through-out the storm so I will be alone by myself.

Our location is in Fort Myers, FL. I will try to keep everyone updated on the status and photos as long as I have power to do so. Power outages where we live are very common. There may not be a cloud in the sky and the power will go out for a couple of minutes.
