YouTube.com & NBC Partner Up

A few months back TWIT talked about youtube.com in one of there podcasts and how much money they were spending to stay a float. Ever since then I noticed some slow response times from the site and understand why. It was costing them a huge sum of money just too keep the site online. Well today on the Today Show, NBC announced that they will be partnering with YouTube.com. This could be a good thing as well as a bad thing. One thing is for sure is that YouTube.com will be around for a while. On the other hand content might be monitored more since they are now working with a more corporate environment. It’s refreshing to see TV networks like NBC realizing the power of the Internet and distribution channels such as YouTube. I think corporate sponsorships are necessary for these Web 2.0 startups to stay afloat. A lot of the Web 2.0 sites such as Flickr and del.icio.us (both Yahoo! acquisitions) seemingly have little or no business model.
