E-ZPass Charges for Tags?
March 22nd, 2006
I just saw on news10now that E-ZPass now cost $25 for one tag. There is a huge effort in New York to get more E-ZPass lanes on the New York State Thruway and for the technology to work faster. I know for a fact that the NYS E-ZPass is much slower than the toll booths on the Dulles Toll Road in Northern Virginia. They have there only lanes that are split from all the other regular lanes and I have seen cars fly past them going 30 or 4 mph. E-ZPass is probably the greatest things since sliced bread. Well maybe not that far but it is great. It’s such a convenience. When I applied for my E-ZPass about 3 years back I didn’t have to pay a dime. Now I am paying a small monthly fee of 1 dollar, but I don’t mind it because of the quickness of getting on and off the roads and not having to wait in line. I guess I lucked out and saved $25. But why are they charging now? By the way the story on the news10now site goes on to say that you can purchase the tags at gas stations and activate them over the phone. This should grab more customers in the long run.

All I can say is be thankful you have any E-Z Pass at all. Oh here in wild west, we got nothin’ but dollar bills and toll booth collectors. Which makes for a good 10 minute wait at the booth. grrrr…..
