Ithaca, NY Ecovillage
November 13th, 2005
Yesterday at Cortica Jug 2005 in Ithaca, NY we where sitting in the stands look at the marvelous view when we saw this red section of what we thought where farms stuff in the hill side. Through-out the entire game Jen and I where debating what the hell it was. At first I thought it was so farm equipment but then realized that it was too big for that. At some spots during the the football game it was much better to observe this funny looking section on the side of the hill than watch a game that ithaca shouldn’t haven shown up to.
So this morning Jen and I decided to head out to Buttermilk Falls for a nice hike. What a nice day for a hike. We didn’t make it to far up the the side of the gorge before we decided to head back down. I wanted to find out what the damn thing was on the side of the hill and so did Jen. So we did. Driving up the side of the hill we saw some beautiful houses and sights and then we turned down this stone road only to find this odd looking village. Later looking it up online when we got home to find that it was a ecovillage. Yes folks an ecovillage, and boy let me tell you it was interesting. So for you viewing pleasure, the Ithaca, NY Ecovillage.
What is an ecovillage?

[...] I’m not even sure I can come up with an answer. Down here in Florida you don’t see that many hippies/tree huggers. I think down here it’s to damn hot to be in that club. However, over near Sanibel I am sure there are some. I heard on the news that the club over there (in Sanibel) were complaining because the state was releasing to much fresh water from lake O into the Gulf and it was going to effect the salt water animals and vegetation. Who cares about the homes and the people that will die and lose everything if Lake O floods. Some people just don’t think! You may now be asking why I am on this topic and it’s because I have found one of the craziest things in the Tree hugger world. Well other than Ithaca, New York, The capital of Hippies and the only ecovillage with conversion vans and other gas guzzlers in the parking lot. So I was surfing online looking for some reference material for some work and I found this! Organic Cotton Panties! Now come on, it even says that all there cotton plants are organic. 96% organic Cotton. This is ridicules. Why would you buy these? I know that there is someone out there that is going to read this and then buy some. If you are that person. E-mail me or leave a comment. I’ll give you my address and you can send me the other money that you are going to throw away. I will be glade to take it off your hands. [...]
