“A Bit Geek-Heavy”
October 26th, 2005
After a nice morning read of the news paper today I noticed that Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) was listed in the national syndicated comic strip, Doonesbury.
(October 26, 2005) — HENRIETTA — Rochester Institute of Technology made the funny pages today.
RIT was featured prominently in the nationally syndicated comic strip “Doonesbury” today as the high school character Alex, Michael Doonesbury’s daughter, indicated she was looking at RIT among her college choices. This week has featured a storyline of Alex looking at colleges to apply to.
According to an RIT spokesman, being named in the Doonsebury strip came as a surprise.
The national notice came with a bit of a backhanded jibe at RIT, as Alex’s mother indicates that her RIT interest — alongside the schools she mentioned Tuesday, such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute — was “a bit geek-heavy.”
