Final Day in Avon

August 19th, 2005

Yesterday I arrived in Avon, CT to attend some meetings and learn about a issue tracking program that I will be come the lead developer on. It’s mostly a maintence developer since 90% of the application is working correctly, but as more and more projects become active in the application I will have to add them in which could be a task. Avon is a small town with not much happening. Very old townish and quant. That’s probably why my hotel (4 1/2 stars) is called Avon Old Farms, becuase its OLD (but nice). Today I fly out of Bradley International on my way back to Rochester, NY at around 5:45pm. Overall the trip was a sucess. I learned alot about the application and got to meet people that I have only talked to on the phone. So it was good. Another thing is I got to see what people are paying for in gas. At the dollar rent a car they told me to either one, return the car on empty or two, fill it up. I was shocked when I saw the gas prices hovering around $2.70! Rochester is close to that but only hovering around the $2.50 mark. However, I did find an intresting site off of kottke.org that show what the prices of gas are in the world. It’s very intresting. Just look where we get our oil from and then look at the prices. It’s a good brain teaser!
